Dust Front RTS is a Steam-exclusive game that has not shipped. That single fact resolves most of the questions people arrive here with: there is no full version to download, no installer to find, and no legitimate place other than Steam to get anything at all. What does exist is a free, permanently available demo that contains a full RTS battle — and installing it takes about two minutes.
The only legitimate download is the free demo
The demo was released on June 15 2026 for Steam Next Fest. It was extended by a week after the festival and then left available indefinitely: the developer stated in a June 29 2026 post that the demo would remain available for an additional indefinite period, that no further patches were planned, that it may be used as a public test platform, and that he would not announce when it closes.
It costs nothing and requires no key. It is a separate Steam app from the main game, which is why it can be downloaded and reviewed today while the main store page still reads To be announced.
The full game cannot be downloaded. It has not released, its price has not been announced, and there is no pre-order, no beta and no early access build described anywhere official. There are also no redemption codes of any kind for this project — not for the demo, not for the full game, not for cosmetics. Any page offering a Dust Front RTS key is lying to you.
Why this site will not link key resellers, torrents, repacks or mirrors
This wiki links only official sources. For a download page that means one thing: the Steam pages the developer controls. We do not link key resellers, torrent indexes, repack sites, file hosts or unofficial mirrors, and the reasoning is specific rather than moral.
The game is unreleased. There is no retail key inventory for an unreleased game, so a shop selling one is selling nothing. A "full game download" for a title that does not exist is, by definition, one of three things: the demo mislabelled, an outdated or fabricated build, or a bundle carrying malware. Repacks and cracks add a second problem — they are usually built against a build that is several patches behind, and they ship with installers that ask for elevated permissions for no defensible reason.
There is a practical cost too. The demo is free and unlimited. There is no scenario in which taking that risk gets you something the developer will not simply give you.
How to install the demo from the Steam store page
The standard route, and the one to use if you have never done this before:
- Install the Steam client and sign in. A free Steam account is enough — you do not need to own anything.
- Open the demo page at
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4776100/Dust_Front_RTS_Demo/in a browser signed in to Steam, or search for Dust Front RTS Demo directly in the client's store. - Press the download button on the demo page. Steam treats demos as their own app, so it will appear in your library like a normal game.
- Choose an install location if prompted. The published storage figure for the game is 2 GB, which is small, but the demo's own download size is not stated by the developer.
- Wait for the download to finish and launch from your library.
The same process works from inside the Steam client without a browser. Searching for "Dust Front RTS" in the store returns both the main page and the demo; the demo is the one with a download button.
The direct install route: steam://install/4776100
If you already have Steam installed, you can skip the store page entirely with Steam's URL protocol:
steam://install/4776100
Paste that into your browser's address bar and confirm, or press Windows key + R, paste it into the Run dialog and press Enter. Steam will open with an install prompt for the demo.
This works because Steam registers itself as a handler for steam:// links, and install plus an App ID is a documented part of that protocol. It is the same mechanism the store page's own buttons use.
What you get, and what is not stated
The demo download contains one mission type — the Siege of an Industrial City — in which you establish positions and clear a fortified area. The map is procedural, so it is always slightly different, and you choose between two opponents: the Bandit Faction, which is light and fast, and the Mutant Faction, which is heavy, close-quarters and built around worms and flies.
Several full-game systems are present and playable:
- Technologies are unlocked — units and buildings from some high-tier doctrines are available, including the Dreadnought.
- Strike groups and reinforcements — part of your army deploys immediately and the rest arrives later, with an interface to configure the split.
- Difficulty and scale multipliers — the enemy base can be made up to four times larger.
- A basic tutorial exists.
Not stated by the developer: the demo's download size, whether the demo will receive further updates, and when or whether it will ever be withdrawn.
After the install: what to do on the first run
Three things are worth touching before your first serious attempt.
Set a starting Parts value — Parts is the resource used in the pre-battle setup screen. Player-reported guidance commonly recommends 5,000 Parts for a first run; treat the number as community advice rather than a developer recommendation.
Decide your base size multiplier first. Chevrons and stars are awarded for the enemy base multiplier, and the numbers represent the maximum difficulty multiplier you have achieved on the corresponding enemy base size, so the dial is also your scoreboard.
Learn tactical pause early. Space freezes the battle while you keep placing buildings and issuing orders; Esc is a full pause. For a game about battalions rather than squads, that is the single biggest quality-of-life tool available.
The demo is English text only. Voiceover is planned for the release version. If you hit a bug, the developer has asked for gameplay recordings rather than written descriptions — the official Discord is the fastest route.
