Wallpaper hunting for an unreleased solo-developed game has a predictable outcome: no pack, no press kit, no art drop. What exists instead is a store page with good artwork, a community hub full of player captures, and a YouTube channel with trailers. That is enough to build a genuinely good wallpaper if you know what to look for.
No official wallpaper pack exists
Nothing has been published as a wallpaper and nothing has been announced. The developer is one person who has said he will not create artificial news cycles before release, and promotional art drops are exactly the kind of thing that policy eliminates.
Two related absences matter. There is no mod support, so there is no extracted asset dump circulating with the developer's blessing. There is also no console or cheat system, so there is no way to hide the interface for a clean capture yourself — every frame you obtain comes from artwork or from a screenshot taken in normal play.
Whether a wallpaper pack ships at release is not stated by the developer.
Where to source frames
Steam store page artwork is the best material available. The page header and capsule art are produced at high resolution and composed to look good with text over them, and the screenshot carousel serves full-size versions when opened rather than thumbnail-sized ones.
The Steam community hub holds a far larger pool through its artwork and screenshots sections, including player uploads from the demo. Quality varies, and resolution depends on what the uploader ran.
Official trailers on YouTube give you frames that were graded and composed on purpose. What you can pull out is capped by the resolution the video was uploaded at, so use the highest quality setting available.
Choosing a frame that works behind icons
RTS captures are busy, and busy desktops fail for predictable reasons. Look for negative space first: the soot-choked palette is grey and low-saturation, which is excellent for icon legibility, so the problem is clutter rather than contrast. A frame with a clear stretch of obscured sky or open ground gives icons somewhere to sit.
Avoid dense user interface if your icons live on that side of the screen. The tactical abilities panel runs down one side and the selection and production panels occupy the bottom, so a full-screen gameplay capture usually has two occupied edges and one clean one.
The subjects that survive cropping best are the ones with strong silhouettes: the Dreadnought's triple turret, a column of brutalist concrete bunkers, a burning landscape after a bombing run, and the blocky geometry of an Empire base against the grey.
Resolution targets: 1080p, 1440p and 4K
Match the source to your display rather than stretching to fit it.
- 1920×1080 is the practical minimum, and nearly every store capture and trailer frame meets it.
- 2560×1440 suits a standard high-resolution monitor. Store artwork handles this comfortably; gameplay captures only if the uploader ran at 1440p or higher.
- 3840×2160 is for high-DPI and 4K displays, and it is where sourcing gets hard — most captures and most trailer uploads are not native 4K.
Do not upscale to hit a number. A 1080p frame stretched to 4K looks soft at exactly the size where softness shows, and it looks worse than a clean 1080p image displayed properly. If your only source is 1080p on a 4K panel, crop tighter instead so the image fills the frame at its native pixel density.
Ultrawide is the awkward case. No officially published ultrawide art exists, so a 21:9 desktop means either cropping a 16:9 source and losing vertical content, or letterboxing. Neither is a failure — just do not expect a purpose-made render.
Cropping a top-down capture without cutting the horizon
Top-down strategy screenshots have no true horizon, which is what makes them awkward to crop. What they have instead is a map edge — the fog boundary or terrain cutoff — and that line behaves like a horizon in composition. Keep it level, and do not let it run through the middle of the frame, because a hard horizontal split through the centre makes a wallpaper look like two images stuck together.
Place the subject using the rule of thirds rather than dead centre. A Dreadnought slightly left of centre with the ground it just shelled receding to the right reads far better than the same Dreadnought parked in the middle.
Two rules specific to this game: do not crop through the turret, since the Dreadnought's triple gun is the most distinctive silhouette in the roster and the first thing lost at the top of a frame; and leave the bottom third clean if your taskbar is visible, since that is where both the interface and the taskbar sit.
Key facts
- Official wallpaper pack: none published, none announced
- Sources: Steam store page artwork and full-size carousel images; community hub artwork and screenshots; official YouTube trailer frames
- Resolution targets: 1920×1080 minimum, 2560×1440 for high-resolution displays, 3840×2160 for 4K
- Avoid: upscaling low-resolution sources; cropping through the Dreadnought's turret or the map-edge line
- Licensing: art belongs to rtsDimon; personal use only, do not redistribute
